Retirement. Just what does that really mean. Carol and I have reached that point and have decided that we just do not have any idea about the concept of retirement. We both seem to be busier than we ever were when we were working and cannot, for the life of us, figure out how we actually had time to fit work into our lives. Yet here we are, retired and busy. We are embarking on a new phase of our lives and hopefully we can make it full of rich new experiences. Our initial plans are to begin some travels in the very near future. Let's go see this beautiful continent that we live on. Since I am a guy who likes to make images, I will be bringing along my paints and cameras and other 'toys' and Carol will be bringing along her keen eye and sense of humanity that will give balance to my madness. Hopefully in a couple of weeks we will be heading toward the Trans-Canada Highway and toward the west coast, then, if all goes well, down to Portland for a visit with our son. After the visit a return to Rhode Island across the Northern tier of the United States. That's the plan. All along the way I hope to record the adventure and post our travels here - in this blog - and do some paintings, take a lot of photos, shoot a lot of video and fly the drone, shoot time lapse and well generally try our best to share the story. We will be traveling by car and staying in campgrounds and hotels. . . we bought a tent. . . haven't slept in a tent in 30 years. . . this should be fun. . . gulp. . . but we do like to hike and we do like to travel and meet new people and taste new tastes, both in food and in life. So come along with us as we ramble around North America.
