We are getting so excited. It is getting close. We are guessing just about a month from now we will be traveling to Minnesota to pick up our trailer. Carol and I spend part of every day planning and trying to work out what we will need and where we could go. Hopefully we will have many adventures in the days and years ahead. I have received a couple of pictures (with no explanation) from Lily at the factory. These are pix of our group of trailers undergoing their construction. I have learned that we are trailer #194.
The manufacturers of Vistabule is Minnesota Teardrop Trailers, LLC located in Saint Paul, Minnesota and they custom build these great little campers for their clients. We were very impressed with their build quality when we visited the factory last summer and have made a lot of custom additions (options) to our trailer. We did the off road lift kit which gives us a bit more ground clearance - it will also raise the trailer a few inches making the counter height a bit more appropriate for tall folks like Carol and I.
We are having electric brakes installed and solar panels on the roof will enable us to go 'off grid' for long periods of time. We added lots of extra lighting and a 2 way refrigerator, air conditioning and a furnace which we think is a must here in New England. The furnace should also extend our season at both ends. I have begun looking at what is involved with getting it registered and insured. That all looks very straight forward. Now on to important things, like decorating.
Although the pictures I received came without explanation I can see that work is being done. It looks to be a very busy place. In the photo below it looks as though stacks of parts arrived, including porthole covers and side door tables.
Hopefully I will learn more in the coming days as work seems to be progressing. From what I have been told this stage of the process goes fairly quickly as the assembly of the machined parts are put together. The process slows as all of the final fitting begins.
