Another Sunday walk. This is one of our favorite places, Conners Farm in Smithfield. The walk is an easy 2.6 miles. It has it's steep inclines but they are short, but the diversity is always special. I love the large outcroppings. As it happens almost every Sunday, our morning starts out at a diner. This time we stopped right here in East Providence at Pazi's Diner over on Taunton Avenue, always a good experience and is very convenient for us. The service and the food was very good and we left fortified for our walk. .
Conners Farm is about 20 minutes away in Smithfield, RI which is a quick and easy drive. There is parking for only a few cars at the trailhead but we have never had a problem and are typically the only car there. Even though we hiked this on April 29th, the trees still looked like November. There was a bit of Spring coming up through the ground and the birds were certainly singing about Spring as we walked
Although this trail has a lot of ups and downs it is still an easy walk with a great deal of diversity in terrain and plant life. The trails are well maintained and well marked. This is a must do hike for all Rhode Islander who like to hike and maybe even an inspiration for those just starting out. We walked at a leisurely pace and according to my AllTrails app we walked the 2.6 miles in just under an hour and a half, so no speed records broken today but we did have a wonderful time in the woods...even if it looked like November. Below is a short video I did of the same location a couple of years ago when thing were leafed out.
